The government of Kenya has finally categorized hardship areas into two categories of Extreme and Moderate. The new renumeration hardship rates has been revised by SRC and will be implemented in July this year. Here are the categories and respective zones.
EXTREME
- Mandera county
- Garissa county
- Turkana county
- Wajir county
- Tana River county
- Marsabit county
- Some parts of Lamu
- West Pokot
- Some parts of Baringo
- Isiolo County
MODERATE
- Narok West, South and Loita
- Samburu
- Parts of Suba South and Suba North
- Some parts of Kitui County
- Some parts of Makueni
- Some parts of Kajiado
- Some parts of Kilifi
- Nyando and Nyakach in Kisumu county.
- Some parts of Laikipia
- Some parts of Nyandarua e g Lari.
